Accepting New Clients Counseling In-Training
Hi my name is Nina Lewis I am practicum student at the University of Houston- Clear Lake (UHCL) working towards my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health and licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UHCL and I am bilingual in English and Spanish. My passion is working with individuals experiencing trauma due to child sexual abuse (CSA), depression, anger, feeling stuck, procrastination, lack of motivation, emotional dysregulation, PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoria Disorder) and multicultural* disparities. Often individuals are unable to see that the light at the end of the tunnel is a lot closer than they realize.
I use a Bio-psycho-social approach, which means I take a holistic approach; I treat the whole person taking into account biological, psychological and social-environmental factors. As your therapist, we will begin using a psychodynamic theory and then depending on presenting issues we will decide together what other therapeutic modalities to use to attain a desired outcome. Each session is your time to discuss, inquire, relax, and get a better understanding of yourself.
Besides having this amazing career, I love to run, do yoga, travel, try out new restaurants and go to the movies. I have two children, my son is a mechanical engineer and my daughter is an animal biologist, I could not be more proud of them! They are my love, my life, and my headaches! 🙂
*Multicultural concerns cover a broad range of topics and identities including race, religion, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, and/or disability.
